Planet Weather for the Week of May 26, 2002

Planet Weather for the Week of May 26, 2002

SkyWatch – 5/26/02 - Penumbral lunar eclipse at 7:51 AM EDT (11:51 AM UT) - visible on the U.S. West Coast just before sunrise. The moon passes through the penumbra or partial shadow of Earth. Luna appears somewhat dimmed but still visible, as Earth only partially blocks the sun's light reflected from the lunar surface. Astrologically, the effect is the same as a full lunar eclipse except not as strong. Lunar energies and symbolism active at the time undergo a possibly surprising transformation. Go out! Look up!

Happy Birthday Gemini, Communicator of the Zodiac! The Sun is in Gemini from 5/21/02 to 6/21/02.

You’re in good Zodiac company with: Queen Victoria, Bob Dylan, Isadora Duncan Henry Kissinger.

Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by the planet Mercury (oscillating, witty, friendly, curious).

Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury, which changes signs monthly (unless it’s retrograde, as it is now). Perhaps because of Mercury’s quick shift from sign to sign, it’s bored easily and seeks new ideas, perspectives and stimulation for its (over) active mind. Geminis have a facility for grasping concepts quickly and are often impatient when others don’t. Because Mercury rules Gemini, the times when Mercury is retrograde (Rx) is of special significance for Gemini. The current Mercury Rx is taking place in Gemini. Retrogrades are the cosmic opportunity to pause -- from fast-forward to normal rewind. It’s a chance to review your decisions to make sure they hold up and to uncover nuances you may have missed in the fast forward mode.

Planetary Highlights this week:

Pluto Rx 3/20-8/26/02, Neptune Rx 5/13/02 to 10/20/02, Mercury Rx 5/15/02 to 6/8/02

Pluto Rx 3/20-8/26/02, Neptune Rx 5/13/02 to 10/20/02, Mercury Rx 5/15/02 to 6/8/02.  (Rx means retrograde - apparent backward motion of a planet as seen from the Earth.) Mercury in Gemini 4/30 to 7/7/02. Mercury extends its stay in Gemini, due to its Rx cycle. Mercury, as with any Rx planet, provides opportunity to find bargains and uncover secrets. Venus in Cancer 5/20/02 to 6/14/02.  This Venus is gentle, giving, forgiving, extra-sensitive, with easily hurt feelings. This Venus is protective particularly concerning home, family and country. The USA was born with Venus in Cancer. Venus makes its full revolution and returns to its birth position typically once a year.

Full Moon and Penumbral Lunar eclipse @ 5 Sadge, 5/26/02 @ 7:51AM EDT.. We’re in eclipse season with the first of three eclipses complete by 6/24/02. Two of these eclipses are in the Gemini/Sadge axis and emphasize the recent clustering of planets in Gemini and the final SA/PL opposition (5/25/02) in the same sign pair. The search for wisdom and nuggets of truth amid the myriad volumes of information continues. This sign pair is more excitable and mercurial with attendant nervous energy and often shooting from the hip. Positive manifestations bring the advantages and choices that are available if we are willing to shift our mind-set.

Mars enters watery Cancer 5/28/02 @ 7:43AM EDT. Mars entering Cancer quickly brings the planet to the exact opposite (180 deg.) point it occupied on 9/11/01 when it transited 1 Capricorn. Because of this, it has the power to trigger those memories and emotions. So, using the position of Mars on 9/11 as a beginning, Mars is now half way around the circle.

Chandra Levy remains found

Chandra Levy remains found. Just over a year ago Chandra Levy was reported missing in Washington, DC. On 5/22/02, human remains were found in a park near her apartment and identified as those of Chandra. The park was searched last May after her disappearance but nothing was found. The disappearance chart has Saturn 1deg. Gemini and Jupiter 13deg. Gemini. Saturn had reached Jupiter’s position and opposed Pluto’s position, 14 Sadge of the disappearance chart. These degrees are also involved in the triple SA/PL oppositions we’ve been discussing the past nine months. With these two planets approaching their last opposition, the body was exposed. Jupiter contacted by Saturn is significant for a number of reasons. The disappearance chart has Mars in Sadge, ruled by Jupiter. Mars rules the deed and to some extent the body. Saturn contacting the ruler of the sign of Mars’ placement brought a conclusion to at least one part of the mystery of where Chandra was. Saturn is always implicated when we are speaking of developmental cycles, structure and definition and, in this case, the very inadequate word, closure. Chandra’s natal chart is also closely tied to the last SA/PL opposition taking place at 16 deg., since her Neptune sits at 15 Sadge – something hidden brought to the surface, to reality.

Planetary Lineup:

Sun-Gemini, Mercury-Rx Gemini, Venus-Cancer, Mars-Gemini (Cancer by 5/28/02), Jupiter-Cancer, Saturn-Gemini, Uranus-Aquarius,

Sun-Gemini, Mercury-Rx Gemini, Venus-Cancer, Mars-Gemini (Cancer by 5/28/02), Jupiter-Cancer, Saturn-Gemini, Uranus-Aquarius, Neptune-Rx Aquarius, Pluto-Rx Sagittarius.

(Rx means retrograde -- apparent backward motion of a planet as seen from the Earth.)

Fire — 1, Earth — 0, Air — 6 (5 by 5/28/02), Water — 2 (3 by 5/28/02)  = Planets in Element distribution.

(Since the Moon moves quickly, 2½ days per sign, it is not included in the tally -- the Moon moves through each element 3 times per month.) Air calms down just a bit with 5 planets, as water gains 1 to make 3. Emotions held back, spill forth. All three water planets are in the sign Cancer, making the next several weeks very emotionally charged and bringing concerns about the public, people in general, home, family and basic comforts are forefront.
