Planet Weather for the Week of November 30, 2008
NewsBits! Terror in Mumbai (Bombay)! We are deeply saddened that Pluto's entry into
Capricorn on Wednesday 11/26/08, and Uranus's station direct the next day (US
Thanksgiving), 11/27/08, brought the horror of Mumbai (formerly known as
Bombay). While listening to the news about the multiple bombings of India’s
financial center Mumbai, the words “Mother India” kept popping up in my head.
India is often described as mother. Then I considered Pluto’s entry into
Capricorn and its opposite sign Cancer (180degrees), ruled by the Moon, mother,
female, housing, comfort, and the basic ebb and flow of daily life. Opposite
signs must be considered when any planet occupies a particular sign, or makes a
strong statement, as is the case with Pluto’s entry into Capricorn. The
opposing sign represents an area of balance to the sign in focus. Studying the
planetary movements, I knew it was no coincidence that the latest terrorist
bombings took place with the combined unleashed energies of Pluto and Uranus in
high focus this week. Then, of course, I looked at the chart of India. The
first chart, that of its independence from British rule, is 8/15/47 @12AM,
Delhi, India. Mars in that chart is @ 0 Cancer (mother, nurturing) and of
course on 11/26/08, when Pluto was poised to enter Capricorn it immediately
opposed (180deg.) that Mars and hit home! There is another chart set for the
proclamation of the Republic of India 1/26/50 @ 10:15AM, New Delhi, India, and
likely that time was elected astrologically, since India as whole, respects
astrological principles (although they use the Vedic system, different
calculations from Western astrology). In that chart Uranus, planet of
unexpected and often chaotic events, was located at 1 Cancer and so was also
receiving, by opposition, the energy of Pluto entering Capricorn, and that kind
of transit is definitely explosive. The attack was planned months before and we
must remember that between 1/25 and 6/13/08, Pluto was in Capricorn at either 0
or 1 degree, already working with those degrees in India’s chart. The same two
planets (Pluto and Uranus) making strong changes in the current sky, met up in
India’s birthchart (transiting Pluto to India’s birth
Uranus)! There’s more – India’s chart is
also receiving its Saturn return to 18 Virgo. Not only that, but Saturn/Virgo
is opposite Uranus/Pisces in the sky (we had the first of 5 oppositions on
11/4/08 @ 18degrees) and the Uranus station on 11/27/08 was also exactly @
18degrees! So, this Saturn return for India is unusual and chaotic and demands
much more attention and awakening than others. Pluto is now heading for the
very top of India’s chart, which is 3 Capricorn. Pluto will reach that degree
in 2009 and India is poised for a great transformation of its goals, priorities,
and its status in the international community. The terrorist bombings were the tragic
and violent beginning of that transformation.
SkyWatch: Moon phase of the week: 12/5 -- The Moon enters her First
Quarter phase at 4:26 PM EST, at 14 degrees of Pisces, just about sunset
on the East Coast when She will be riding high in the southern sky and
continuing to light our lives until around midnight. Skywatching
events of the week: 11/30 -- The waxing Crescent Moon passes Venus and Jupiter,
low in the southwestern twilight, approaching the two planets from the West
shortly after sunset. The trio will form a neat isosceles triangle (two equal
sides), with Venus at the vertex (peak). These three brightest luminaries in
the night sky will then set together about two hours after sunset. 12/1 -- The
Moon will have passed the two planets, but Venus and Jupiter will be making
their point of closest approach (although the precise moment occurs long after
both have set). Even before they set, they will be less than a degree apart, a
beautiful and unusually close pass for the two planets. Space news of the week:
The Space Shuttle Endeavor undocked from the International Space Station (ISS)
in preparation for the astronauts' return to Earth. Their 12-day visit
delivered equipment needed to make possible an expansion in ISS crew size.
Weather permitting, they will touch down at NASA's
Cape Canaveral runway on Sunday.
Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.

Week of 11/30/08 – Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially very
productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or
projects, and/or producing results. On 12/1/08, the Moon is VOC/Capricorn from 10:44AM
to 1:45AM EST (next day!) – On 12/3/08, the Moon is VOC/Aquarius from 9:15PM to
1:23PM EST (next day again!) — On 12/6/08, the Moon is VOC/Pisces from 7:43PM
EST to 9:44PM EST.
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day
and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact
culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary
pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Venus in
cardinal, earth Capricorn conjunct (0deg.) Jupiter/Capricorn @ 22deg. on
12/1/08 @ 3:45AM EST. The two “benefic” planets light up the night sky and
offer something positive, practical options, although measured (in Capricorn)
to us mortals below. This is also a time to review the state of your important
relationships, whether personal or professional, and to set goals, or make
plans for the future. However short it
may be, this aspect generates feelings of expansion, opportunity, and
possibility.
Mercury in mutable, fire Sagittarius squares
(90deg.) Uranus in mutable, water Pisces @ 18deg. on 12/5/08 @ 12:52AM and
continues on to square Saturn @ 21deg and sextile (60deg.)
Neptune @ 21deg. both on 12/6/08. This
makes for a busy end of the week, with the mind desiring to make many connections, including social connections
and interactions with others. The square connections bring things to a head:
with Uranus – there are more outbursts or abrupt or shocking commentary; and
with Saturn, one can feel blocked or struggle with words and getting one’s
meaning across, as one feels the weight of the information to be communicated
or its potential effect on others. Mercury’s connection with Neptune is softer,
more generous, allowing and unifying. It offers an ideal view, something we can
strive for, even though it may not exist in present time.
The Sun/Sagittarius conjunct Mars/Sagittarius
@ 13deg. on 12/25/08 @ 5:04AM EST. Clearly an assertive configuration, the fiery
nature of Sagittarius could have you rushing into something without enough
forethought. Still, the archer’s innate “can-do” attitude warms the heart and
mind of most with its irrepressible optimism and ability to adapt until it
reaches its mark. This is the aspect for you to aim your arrow and identify
your target and also to pitch your idea.
