Planet Weather for the Week
of November 25, 2007
SkyWatch – Moon phase
of the week: 12/1 -- The Moon enters her Last (aka Third) Quarter phase at 7:44
AM EDT at 8 degrees of Virgo. Sky factoid of the week: Is the Moon half full or
half empty? The First and Last Quarter moons used to be called "half moons"
for the obvious reason that, at the start of these phases, exactly half of the
side that the Moon always keeps turned towards the Earth is visible. Calling
these phases "quarters" thus references the lunar cycle itself and
not the Moon's appearance. In Her upcoming phase change, the Moon will be
three-quarters of the way through her cycle, hence in Her Third or Last
Quarter. Skywatching event of the week: 11/28 -- The Moon
passes less than a degree north of the Beehive star cluster in the constellation
Cancer, with their point of closest approach coming about 9 PM EDT. This is
before moonrise in most U.S. locations, but the two will still be close after
they rise. (A star cluster is a kind of "mini galaxy" orbiting our
main galaxy, the Milky Way.) Space news of the week: Astronomers have concluded
from recent observations that our Moon may be a very rare type of planetary
satellite in the universe. The Moon was created when a Mars-sized planet
smacked into Earth shortly after our planet formed, knocking out a huge chunk
of material that became the Moon. This happened well over four billion years
ago, when our solar system was only about 30 million years old, and kicked up
an enormous amount of planetary dust. If similar events happened around sunlike stars about the same age, astronomers could
actually detect the resulting collision dust but they haven't -- at least not
much. Only one such star out of hundreds studied sports the kind of dust that
would be evidence of a Moonlike moon orbiting an Earthlike planet. The Moon is
a rare sight indeed! Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.

Week of 11/25/07 – Sunday, Tuesday, Friday
and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially most productive days
– more Moon aspects for engagement and/or producing results. On 11/26/07, the
Moon is VOC/Gemini from 2:37AM to 6:07AM EST – on 11/27/07, VOC/Cancer from
11:22PM to 8:23AM EST (11/28/07) – on 11/30/07, VOC/Leo from 12:25PM to 2:44PM
EST.
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day
and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact
culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary
pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Venus in
cardinal, air Libra trine (120deg.) Neptune in fixed, air Aquarius @ 19deg. on
11/26/07 @ 4:56AM EST. This mystical, magical energy allows for compassion,
understanding, and the goodwill to assist and help those in need. It is also an
open channel to inspiration for creative projects of all kinds and spiritual
messages from a variety of sources. These energies express the gentler, kinder
side of relationships.
The Sun in mutable, fire Sagittarius square
(90deg.) Saturn in mutable, earth Virgo @ 8deg. on 11/30/07. Now that Saturn is in Virgo for approximately 2.5
years, it will make hard aspects with all the mutable signs, like Sagittarius.
Basically, it’s time to tie up those loose ends, the strings hanging and all
unfinished business. In this Virgo/Sagittarius combination, the issue is – what
do you want to experience and what do you see as options, choices, and
opportunities, and what do you choose to filter out from your life experience?
What has time taught you? What is it that you no longer need to repeat? Use the
natural discrimination of Virgo to select from among the wide array of
possibilities for those that more accurately meet your primary criteria. Press
Delete whenever necessary!
Mercury enters Sagittarius on 12/1/07 @
7:21AM EST until 12/20/07. We
have finally completed the long sojourn and retrograde cycle of Mercury through
Scorpio/Libra (since 9/28/07). Mercury in Sagittarius brings a fresh outlook,
more optimistic, expressing all sorts of possibilities and the fiery energies
of enthusiasm, generosity, warmth, and good-will. Watch your language though
and don’t overdo it or fall for the tendencies to promise more than you can
deliver or exaggerate your claims.
** Mars turned retrograde on 11/15/07
@ 12deg. Cancer @ 3:24AM EST! Mars entered cardinal, water Cancer on 9/28/07. Mars re-enters the previous sign, Gemini, on 12/31/07, and turns
direct @ 24deg. Gemini on 1/31/08. Mars re-enters Cancer on 3/5/08, and
then remains in Cancer until 5/10/08. We last experienced a Mars Rx cycle in fixed, earth
Taurus between 10/2-12/1/05.
Mars in Cancer begs the
question: What is the emotional tenor of your life? What is the basic mood or
emotion that governs you? How can you modify your moods to bring you desired
outcomes? Who are your closest associates and what is the exchange you bring
each other? This is the time to examine your innermost circle and ask if these
people are supportive and trustworthy of your life’s deepest meaning. It may be
time to rebuild your foundation of trust and support – both what you receive
and what you give.
NewsBits: Beam me up Scotty! Scott McClellan was George W. Bush’s Press Secretary
from 2003 to 2006, after Ari Fleischer stepped down. Now McClellan is on Larry
King Live and other talk shows, promoting his forthcoming book, What Happened? due
out in the Spring of 2008. The short excerpt released by the publisher has
McClellan claiming that top administration officials – Rove, Cheney, Libby,
Andrew Card, and even George W. Bush himself knowingly gave him false
information about the CIA leak case involving Valerie Plame
Wilson. The outing of Plame Wilson was in retaliation
for Joseph Wilson’s criticism of Bush’s Iraq policy, specifically
the phony claim that Saddam Hussein was importing enriched Uranium from Africa.
The damaging revelation in the book excerpt has caused a firestorm in the press
and calls for further investigation. Scott McClellan was born on 2/14/68, in
Austin, TX (time unknown). Departing administration officials often write
memoirs of their political experiences. It’s interesting to note that Scott has
an exact Mars/Pisces opposition to Uranus/Virgo, both at 29 degrees, known as a
critical degree, and indicative of unusual and abrupt life experiences. This
aspect indicates in part the shock that comes with realizing that someone put
one over on you, that you were misled, deceived, or lied to, and the ensuing level
of truth that one rises to – about life and human nature, after such an
experience. McClellan’s Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Aquarius and square
Neptune/Scorpio, indicating a life that is centered on truth or its lack and
again, experiences of betrayal of trust, boundaries and deception in life
situations. Both these aspects concern the spinning of information, smoke and
mirrors and how one can get caught in the web of truth, half-truth and
“adjusting” information for political purpose. The book excerpt is announced
just as Jupiter and Pluto/Sagittarius are approaching a square to his
Mars/Uranus opposition in Pisces/Virgo. Scott’s desire to present Bush &
Co. in the best light possible, as a good Press Secretary is meant to do, morphed into McClellan realizing that he’d been duped and
used for political advantage and cover-up. Close friends say that McClellan is
bitter about having being used in this way. Stay tuned for more nuggets and
secrets revealed from the inner workings of the Bush administration. The
message of “something rotten in Denmark,” keeps repeating like a broken record.
