Planet Weather for the Week of November 18, 2007

Planet Weather for the Week of November 18, 2007

SkyWatch – Moon phase of the week: 11/24 -- The Moon reaches perfect Fullness at 9:30 AM EDT, at one degree of Gemini. This Full Moon is known in Native American and folklore traditions as the Beaver Moon. Time to set those traps before the swamps freeze over! And beavers get busy as themselves preparing for winter. It is also called the Frost Moon for obvious reasons. Skywatching event of the week: 11/24 -- The Full Moon makes Her monthly pass through the Pleiades star cluster about 7 AM EDT, just after sunrise on the U.S. East Coast. (A star cluster is a kind of "mini galaxy" orbiting our main galaxy, the Milky Way.) However, Moon and Pleiades (the so-called "Seven Sisters") will still be close before first light, well up in the western sky. Observers farther west can see the Moon pass less than a degree from the cluster, although the very bright Moon will wash out its stars to some extent. Space news of the week: Speaking of the Pleiades, astronomers have recently discovered that rocky, terrestrial-type planets, possibly like Earth, Mars, or Venus, seem to be forming around a star in the Pleiades, the result of gigantic collisions between planets or planetary embryos. Located about 400 light-years away, the Pleiades is one of the closest star clusters to Earth. Go out! Look up!

Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!

The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting, or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be negative.

Week of 11/11/07 – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially most productive days – more Moon aspects for engagement and/or producing results. On 11/20/07, VOC/Pisces from 2:26AM to 6:24AM EST – on 11/22/07, VOC/Aries from 3:39AM to 7:18AM EST – on 11/23/07, VOC/Taurus from 1:53PM to 6:29AM EST on 11/24/07 (a long one).

The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.

Venus in cardinal, air Libra square (90deg.) Mars Retrograde (Rx) in cardinal, water Cancer @ 12deg. on 11/19/07 @ 9:19PM EST. Sparks fly between the sexes or between differing opinions. You may find yourself in a heated debate or in a passionate exchange of one sort or another with your significant other. Venus is offended on the fairness level by actions that are disrespectful, uncaring, or just plain poor treatment. Graciousness reigns, but sloppiness and whining get no points with this combination. With Mars Rx, issues from the past that have been stuffed or unspoken come up for clarification. How do you really want to engage with others or disengage?

Mercury in fixed, water Scorpio trine (120deg.) MarsRx/Cancer @  12deg. on 11/19/07 @ 9:53PM EST. Strong words hastily spoken may generate hurt or bad feelings. It’s best to gauge the sensitivities of your listener before a blooper spills out of your mouth. This aspect allows for review or research of past ideas that you may have placed on the back burner. Who knows what gems you’ll discover? Review your feelings and habits. Are they getting you what you want?

Mercury/Scorpio trine Uranus in mutable, water Pisces @ 14deg. on 11/21/07 @ 12:57PM EST. Insight, complete with lightning-bolt awareness but on an instinctive and intuitive level, stimulates your inner sense of truth, and sheds light on dark places. You may find something that was lost, both metaphorically and practically.

The Sun enters mutable, fire Sagittarius on 11/22/07 @ 11:50AM EST until 12/22/07. We’re moving into the third phase of autumn, which means transition-time between seasons. Sagittarius is here to help with that. Fire is joyous and giving by nature and it is during Sagittarius that we celebrate both Thanksgiving and all the preparations for Christmas and the December holidays. With laughter and good cheer, Sagittarius can go all out, which can be problematic when the bills come due the following month during Capricorn time. In any case, make the most of a time of the year when people are more willing to risk opening their hearts and express goodwill. Surely we need that.

Uranus/Pisces turns Stationary Direct @ 14deg. on 11/24/07 @ 5:16AM EST. Now it’s time for Uranus to make a point – on a degree of the Zodiac that is. This planetary station may come with some surprises or abrupt and unusual activity – typical of Uranus. The planet retraces now for the third time in its forward direction the degrees 14-18. If you have planets at those degrees, you are likely to resolve something or understand it better. When Uranus moves to and past 18deg. (3/9/08), we will be learning brand-new lessons of Uranus in Pisces, one of which is to accept the truth of our soul mission.

Mercury/Scorpio square Neptune in fixed, air Aquarius @ 19deg. on 11/24/07 @ 12:51PM EST. Mercury is busy this week and means that our minds are preoccupied and filled with – well, you can imagine – all sorts of plans and connections for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and gathering with friends –  in the USA, that is! Don’t get lost in the fog, take your time on the road, and don’t drive if you’re overtired or have had one too many.

** Mars turned retrograde on 11/15/07 @ 12deg. Cancer @ 3:24AM EST! Mars entered cardinal, water Cancer on 9/28/07. Mars re-enters the previous sign, Gemini, on 12/31/07, and turns direct @ 24deg. Gemini on 1/31/08. Mars re-enters Cancer on 3/5/08, and then remains in Cancer until 5/10/08. We last experienced a Mars Rx cycle in fixed, earth Taurus between 10/2-12/1/05.

NewsBits: Did He or Didn’t He? On 11/15/07, Barry Bonds was indicted on five counts, among them perjury for his testimony before a Grand Jury in 2003. Bonds claimed then, as he claims now, that he did not take steroids. However, because of the indictment, his record in the Baseball Hall of Fame as the player with the most Home Runs, 756 (surpassing Hank Aaron), has an asterisk next to it. The mark indicates that his winning record is questionable, and may have been due to chemical enhancement. Bonds was born on 7/24//64 in Riverside, CA (time unknown). He is an early Full-Moon birth Leo, with the Moon in the opposite sign of Aquarius and indicative of one who wants to shine and is generally comfortable in the limelight or “on stage.” His record includes being walked 177 times, breaking one of the famous Babe Ruth’s benchmarks. Barry followed his father, Bobby, also a star in the major leagues. Barry had an illustrious career at bat, in the outfield and as a fast runner. His Mars and Venus are conjunct in Gemini, and this combination often bestows winged feet. The same fleet-footedness shifted to his mouth and produced sarcastic retorts, or a surliness that alienated him with the press and some of his fans. It was at the start of the 1998 season that he bulked up to 210 pounds, after being 180 pounds just two years earlier. Suspicions grew then that he was using steroids. In 1998, Neptune was in early Aquarius and hovering around his Moon – this could mean that he was uninformed about the nature of the creams he was receiving or that he knowingly and secretly used them. At the same time, Jupiter was in Pisces opposite his Pluto/Virgo, which can certainly be seen as bulking up and expanding power, but in Pisces, again, there is the element of behind-the-scenes, or secretiveness. If Bonds is convicted, he faces up to 30 years in jail.
