Planet Weather for the Week of November 2, 2008
NewsBits! Picking the President via those
closest to him. The charts
of people closest to the Presidential candidates will often tell which
candidate will win the race. We do have a verified time for Joe Biden, born
11/20/42 @ 8:30AM EWT, Scranton, PA. The most influential transit in his chart
at present is Pluto @ 29 Sagittarius forming a perfect Grand Trine (3 or more
planets equidistant from each other by 120deg.) to his Moon @ 0 Taurus and his
North Node @ 0 Virgo. This is a configuration of events and timing coming
together to reach a powerful and important crescendo, a deserved gift or
achievement. Pluto perfects that trine when it reaches 0 Capricorn (again) on
11/26/08. This once in a lifetime transit configuration by Pluto signals to us
Biden’s rise to the second most important political position in the US
government. We also have a verified time for Sarah Palin,
born on 2/11/64 @ 4:40PM PST, Sandpoint, Idaho. The most potent transit
happening currently for Palin is Neptune Stationary
Direct @ 21 Aquarius, sitting within a degree of her Sun @ 22 Aquarius. Neptune
is coming around for a second pass to reach her Sun. The first conjunction took
place at the end of August, at the time of the Republican convention, when she
was nominated. Neptune conjunct the Sun is not a winning aspect. It indicates a
time of breaking down the ego, illusion, disillusionment, confusion, smoke and
mirrors. Palin was prematurely thrust onto the
political stage and her lack of substance for that stage is more apparent as
the glamour (Neptune) has worn off. We do not have a verified time for Michelle
Obama, born on 1/17/64 in Chicago, IL, but her Venus @ 0 Pisces would remain at
that degree, no matter the time. Transiting Pluto is moving toward a sextile (60deg.) to her Venus, exact on 11/26/08. This
aspect speaks to an opportunity for a smooth transformation through a partner
and the call to generate and express greater empowerment in her own
interactions with others. We do not have a verified time for Cindy McCain, born
on 5/20/54 in Phoenix, AZ, either. The most potent aspect for Cindy is Pluto @
29 Sagittarius exactly opposite (180deg.) her Jupiter @ 29 Gemini and inconjunct (150deg.) her Sun @ 29 Taurus. These aspects
show a great deal of pressure and circumstances of misalignment and maladjustment
and, we believe, loss. Soon we will know who the next President of the United
States will be. These four charts lean toward an Obama win. The next President
will have inherited serious and challenging conditions, no matter who he is.
SkyWatch: Moon
phase of the week: The Moon enters her First Quarter phase at 11:03 PM EST, at
14 degrees of Aquarius. Skywatching events of the
week: 11/3 -- The Moon passes just under two degrees North of Jupiter, with
their point of closest approach coming at 5:22 PM, just around sunset in the
northeastern US. Moon and planet should remain visible together for a couple of
hours afterwards before sinking slowly in the West. 11/4-5 -- The South Taurid meteor shower peaks around midnight and may offer
some nice streaks now and then, possibly as many as a dozen per hour, although
it is not one of the more spectacular showers. The constellation Taurus,
("the Bull") from which the Taurid meteors
appear to radiate, should be high overhead around this time and the Moon will
have set, offering no competition to those often faint streaks of light across
the heavens. Space news of the week: This past week, NASA technicians lost
contact with the Phoenix Mars Lander but then regained contact a bit later.
Part of the problem seems to have to do with Martian dust covering the solar
panels and preventing the batteries from being quickly or fully recharged. The
Phoenix Lander recently discovered unequivocal evidence of water on Mars in the
form of ice. Earth to Phoenix! Earth to Phoenix! Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Week of 11/2/08 – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially very productive days
– more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or projects, and/or
producing results. On 11/2/08, the Moon is VOC/Sagittarius from 4:41AM to 6:13AM
EST – On 11/4/08, the Moon is VOC/Capricorn from 1:47AM to 7:01PM EST— On
11/7/08, the Moon is VOC/Aquarius from 4:33AM EST to 5:43AM EST.
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day
and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact
culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary
pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Neptune
Stationary Direct @ 21deg. Aquarius on 11/2/08 @ 1:39AM EST. Just
two days before the US Presidential election, Neptune makes a Station Direct.
It’s been retrograde since 5/26/08. A planetary station bring
the energies of that planet into the foreground of collective awareness.
Neptune’s energy is elusive and hard to grasp. It is ethereal and idealistic
and often prefers to look at life through rose-colored glasses. Neptune is the
universal solvent. Its objective is to break things down into their component
parts and reform them based on a mystery – the mystery of what resides in the
soul. Neptune softens the rough edges as it breaks down the natural barriers
and armor we use to protect ourselves in a harsh world. The desire in Neptune is to find and inhabit
a magic world composed of our most cherished dreams and ideals. In that process
we can be blinded to see what we want to see and fail to see what may actually
be there or what is potential that perhaps cannot be realized. When we’re under
the spell of Neptune, we are typically attempting to escape or transcend the
harsher realities, or else we yearn to embrace ideals that we aspire to in
others or in our lives. Rarely will we get all that we idealize when Neptune is
strong and disappointment or disillusionment ensues. We must learn to remain satisfied
with some of what we dream of and glimpses of magic. For this US Presidential election,
many are seeking something that has been elusive in our society and in politics,
and ideals and hope are very high. We cannot expect someone or something to
“save” us, and yet magic does happen sometimes and hope is renewed and
restored. Still, it will be incumbent on all of us to support the ideals and
magic and work together to make necessary changes. Neptune also represents
unity. Doubt dissolves manifestation.
Venus in mutable, fire Sagittarius
square (90deg.) Saturn in mutable, earth Virgo @ 3:42AM EST, and Venus also
squares Uranus in mutable, water Pisces @ 6:18AM EST on 11/3/08 both @ 18deg. Venus makes two important squares to the same two
planets that will reach an exact opposition on US Election Day forming a
T-square (two or more planets 180deg. opposite each other, and one or more
planets square, or 90deg. to each end of the opposition)! Venus represents our
values, money, and the value we place on anything or anyone. It seems we are
making evaluations and judgments as to what is most important in view of the
events over the last year and in particular over the last month. We are weighing
what has been, what may come in the future, and how it is likely to affect us,
including our finances. Obviously, these judgments will be on the minds of
voters on Tuesday.
Mars in fixed, water Scorpio
square (90deg.) Neptune in fixed, air Aquarius @ 21deg. on 11/4/08 @ 2:42AM
EDT. Active Mars, in
depth-focused and perceptive Scorpio, is challenged by idealistic Neptune, in
truth-telling Aquarius. This is like being blind-sided or an unexpected
crashing of an ideal concept and pulling back the veil to see what is really
there. Action taken may have questionable motives or goals may be diverted or
detoured, and yet, the impetus is strong to attain an ideal that has been in
the collective psyche for a long time. This aspect has the potential to
overcome great challenge through focused will and action.
Saturn
in mutable, earth Virgo opposite (180deg.) Uranus/Pisces @ 18deg. on 11/4/08 @
8:33AM EST. This first of five oppositions, exact on Election Day, between
these opposing forces – status quo Saturn and modernization Uranus, expresses
the tension we’ve been feeling about the strain and then the breakdown of
various systems – the most obvious one being the economic collapse. This
opposition and its breakdown
conditions will operate actively in the collective through mid-2010,
and work in tandem with Pluto/Capricorn to restructure business, economics, and
other foundational features of our lives.
Mercury enters fixed, water
Scorpio on 11/4/08 @ 11AM EST until 11/23/08. Again, taking place on 11/4/8, Mercury
shifts into intense Scorpio, bringing strong feelings and passions to the
surface for our examination. Mercury in a water sign adds subjectivity to our thought
processes, and we must guard against reactive biases and learn to examine their
source.
