Planet Weather for the Week of July 12,
2009
NewsBits: Obama Watch! It’s been some time since we’ve written about President Obama. But because things are likely to heat up for the President soon, we thought it appropriate to look at his chart and make comments. There’s some talk in the press that his popularity is slipping, which is not unusual given the short attention span of the American electorate. And yet, there is something else that we have been watching in Obama’s chart and that is the approach of Saturn and Uranus (since they are traveling as an opposing pair these days) to his Mars @ 22 Virgo. Saturn reaches that degree on 8/24 and then heads toward its opposition with Uranus @ 24 Pisces, which takes place on 9/15. During this time band, there could be a crisis or at least serious criticism of Obama’s policies. Mars recently entered Gemini, so it will also play a role as it moves in square to both Saturn and Uranus and Obama’s own Mars position. This takes place between 8/12-8/19/09. Then there’s persistent Pluto heading for another opposition to Obama’s Venus @ 1 Cancer. This aspect which has been exact twice before, is part of Obama’s magnetic rise to power and Presidency, and also the death of a major female figure in his life, his grandmother. Pluto sits at 1 deg. of Capricorn for its third of four times between 6/23-8/6/09 and its final time between 10/17-11/25/09. At the very end of October, when Saturn enters Libra for the first time, it will square Obama’s Venus along with Pluto in November, another indication of a crisis. From August 2009, to the end of the year is the next most challenging time for Obama and probably for all of us too. Saturn in Libra squaring Pluto will create dynamic crisis situations that will need immediate attention. More on this later.
SkyWatch: Moon phase of the week: 7/15
-- The Moon enters her Last (aka Third) Quarter at 5:53 AM EDT, at 23 degrees
of Aries, when She will be culminating (close to the Zenith) on the US East
Coast, more to the east farther west. Sky watching events of the week: 7/17 --
The waning Moon passes the Pleiades by less than a degree. Their point of
closest approach occurs several hours before Moonrise on the US East Coast, but
Moon and star cluster will still be close when both become visible. (A star
cluster is a kind of mini-galaxy orbiting our much larger Milky Way galaxy.)
7/18 -- The Moon makes a close pass by Mars, with
their point of closest approach coming after sunrise on the East Coast.
However, the two will still rise together a couple of
hours before that around 4 AM EDT, earlier farther West. Space news of the
week: If the weather at Cape Canaveral holds, the Space Shuttle Endeavor should
be in orbit by the time you read this. If not, not. But prospects for fair
weather on launch day don't look too bright (so to speak) at this point. Stay
tuned. Go
out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur
is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended
activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance!
It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come
of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be
negative.

Week of 7/12/09 – Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday are the most active energetically and potentially very productive days –
more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or projects, and/or
producing results. On 7/13/09, the Moon is VOC/Pisces from 4:03AM to 10:40AM
EDT – On 7/15/09, the Moon is VOC/Aries from 11:08AM to 6:30PM EDT – On 7/17/09, the
Moon is VOC/Taurus from 4:48PM to 10:41PM EDT.
Planet Patterns & Cosmic Headlines:
Summary: This a quiet planetary activity week, relatively
speaking! It’s the last full week of the Sun in Cancer and we will be adjusting
to a new way to forge ahead/take action with Mars moving into Gemini (see last
week’s PW) by asking questions and communicating what we want. The Sun/Cancer
makes several aspects – one to Mercury/Cancer and one with Uranus/Pisces. Both
ask us to attune to our emotional selves and needs and those of those close to
us. New insights are ready to be realized.
Mercury enters fixed, fire Leo on
7/17/09 until 8/2/09. This bold
and fiery Mercury is warm and alert and also very opinionated. There’s pride
and dignity at work here and both can easily be bruised. This Mercury speaks
from a passionate heart and a noble viewpoint, whenever it isn’t engaged
excessively with ego needs and ego satisfaction. There’s the ability and
encouragement with this placement to articulate the love in your heart and your
joy in living.
*Currently Active Paradigm-Shift Patterns:
*Jupiter in fixed air, Aquarius conjunct
(0deg.) Neptune/Aquarius for the second time @ 26 deg. on 7/10/09. Jupiter and Neptune are still in the throes of their
second conjunction – still both very close by degree. The first of three
conjunctions (meeting in the same sign and at the same degree) between these
two planets took place on 5/27/09, and he third and last takes place on
12/21/09. As noted in previous issues of PW, it is rare (and important) to have
these two planets that meet by conjunction about every 12 years make this
aspect three separate times in their single cycle. The last triple occurrence
of this sort was in 1919-1920! The next time will be in 2047 –2048! This
conjunction is meant to bring hope and to inspire us to a wider understanding
of what the meaning is of the lives we have lived and wish to continue to live.
Expect some amazing synchronicity to appear in your life. Be aware of all
meetings with others, events and involvements and what these may say to you and
the purpose of your life.
* Part 2 of 5 – Saturn in mutable, earth Virgo opposite (180
deg. angle) Uranus in mutable, water Pisces took place on 2/5/09 @ 20 deg. – Preview: Part 3 of 5 is exact on 9/15/09 @
24degrees. The first four oppositions between these two
planets take place in the signs Virgo/Pisces, and the last one is in
Aries/Libra in July of 2010. The first opposition took place on 11/4/08! It’s
important to understand where this is taking place in your chart, the
adjustments that are required of you, and how you will reconstruct habits in a
specific area of your life. This is a pattern of adaptation and analysis of
what works and what does not. This challenging
and often stressful aspect breaks things into their component parts in order to
rebuild them on a more solid foundation. Individually your system may fracture,
so that you can put it back together in a more workable fashion. Ask your
astrologer to further clarify this important pattern and how it is operating in
your life.
