Planet Weather for the Week of June 21, 2009

NewsBits: Iran Election Uprising! Regime change or policy change is in the air as Iranians protest a fixed and stolen election. Demonstrations continued despite the speech last Friday by the country’s highest leader, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hoseyni Khamenei, who asked people to acknowledge the valid election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as President of Iran. Clashes with riot police became bloodier and bloodier. With press coverage severely restricted, unverified information is filtering out via cell phone images and the social networking sites, Twitter, Facebook, and U-Tube. Some sources, although unverified, claim that hundreds have been killed and beaten, and there is some evidence of police raiding homes during the night. This group movement and protest can be clearly seen expressed in the dynamic activity of Neptune and Jupiter between 5/27 and 6/15/09. It was on 5/27/09 that Jupiter and Neptune came together for the first of three conjunctions – a triple conjunction of these planets is a rarity in itself. (From last week’s PW: It is rare to have these two planets that meet by conjunction about every 12 years make this aspect three separate times in their cycle. The last triple occurrence was in 1919-1920! The next time will be in 2047 –2048! So…don’t miss the message and the spiritual infusion.) Another way to explain the conjunction is as group process, the consciousness of truth in human affairs and the mismatch and disillusionment of human rights, dreams, and ideals. The government of Iran has perpetrated a huge lie on the people and the people know it. Lies are not tolerated well with a Jupiter/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius.

The chart of Iran certainly indicates the unrest that is taking place in the country. The Uranus station @ 26 Pisces (exact on 7/1 but at its station degree right now) appears to be the trigger indicator in the chart of Iran, sitting at the midpoint of Iran’s Mars/Mercury conjunction in Pisces. Uranus particularly in relation to Mars and also to Mercury indicates unrest and rebellion, especially when one perceives a deception. The current sky position of Uranus/Pisces these days comes with Saturn opposite it, in Virgo, and is part of the 5-phase Saturn/Uranus opposition that we have been watching and discussing as a major paradigm shift. The first exact opposition took place on US Election Day and heralded the historic election of Barack Obama. We could say that Obama’s rise to the US Presidency inspired the rest of the world in both conscious and unconscious ways. The Iranian people too want change as indicated by a number of factors written in the cosmos these days – in addition to the factors described above, another is the background aspect of Pluto’s entry into Capricorn (first entry 1/25/08), indicating cracks in the system that need repair or demolition and rebuilding and a toppling of old, crystallized, power structures. The Neptune/Jupiter triple conjunction, the disillusionment and need for re-inspiration of humanity, truth and human rights, and the Saturn/Uranus opposition – the pressure is on for outmoded systems to yield to modernization and authenticity.

SkyWatch: Moon phase of the week: 6/22 -- The Moon enters Her New cycle just after entering Cancer, the sign of Her rulership. The Moon enters Cancer at 1:12 PM and Her New phase at 3:35 PM EDT, at 1 degree of Cancer. (This is just one day after the Sun enters Cancer, marking the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere.) As always, look for Her slender crescent a couple of days later, low in the West after sunset. Skywatching events of the week: 6/21 -- Venus and Mars will rise together a couple of hours before dawn as their slow dance in the sky brings them very near their point of closest approach later in the day. They will remain within a few degrees of each other all week, since both are moving along the Zodiac at about the same relative pace. Also, under excellent seeing conditions, you may just be able to catch the waning Moon making a close pass by Mercury shortly before sunrise. 6/27 -- The Moon also makes a close pass by Saturn. Their point of closest approach happens around midday, but the two will still be fairly close high in the West after sunset. Space news of the week: NASA launched two unmanned space probes towards the Moon that are planned to crash into the lunar surface to determine if there is ice near the poles, an important consideration in establishing any future lunar bases. Go out! Look up!

Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!

 

The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting, or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be negative.

Week of 6/21/09 – Monday, Thursday and Friday are the most active energetically and potentially very productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or projects, and/or producing results. On 6/22/09, the Moon is VOC/Gemini from 8:20AM to 1:12PM EDT  – On 6/24/09, the Moon is VOC/Cancer from 7:24AM to 12:50PM EDT – On 6/26/09, the Moon is VOC/Leo from 8:28AM to 1:47PM EDT.

 

Planet Patterns & Cosmic Headlines for the week:

 

The Sun enters cardinal, water Cancer – The Summer Solstice – on 6/21/09 @ 1:46AM, until 7/22/09. The wheel has turned and here we are again, the start of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. For the next 16 years, the Sun in Cancer will also be challenged by an opposition to Pluto in Capricorn. This year it happens on 6/23/09, since Pluto is still in its early degrees. Pluto is transforming the culture of consumerism, we might say, and redefining what is essential to our daily lives. Cancer time is more about family and the closeness we feel with people in our lives. There’s a relaxed, natural feeling and a pleasure in the flow of time – that is, unless Pluto is applying pressure to those activities and to our feelings about time.

 

Venus in fixed, earth Taurus conjunct Mars/Taurus on 6/21/09. This conjunction is yet another part of the theme of relationships and values that has been offered to us strongly since Venus entered Aries, and then turned retrograde in that sign, extending the time of its influence to over 3months. Venus in Aries is ruled by Mars – taking initiative in relationships and interested in value. Then Mars entered Aries joining Venus there, heightening the excitement of relationship activity, although the conjunction of Venus/Mars takes place in Taurus. Venus later entered Taurus, its home sign and again accentuating worth and value. Mars and Venus remain together in Taurus until 7/5/09. Altogether we’ve had over 5 months of processing and evaluating the various dimensions of what is valuable in relationships, in monetary matters and in life in general.

 

The Sun/Cancer opposes (180deg.) Pluto in cardinal, earth Capricorn on 6/23/09. As mentioned above, Pluto will now be transforming the Cancer/Capricorn axis representing security, daily life, family, our feelings of time, life’s developmental processes, commerce, the basic necessities, and answering the all-important question – what are the things we really need to be fully content and secure in our lives. This can be a challenging or stress aspect where we feel circumstances pressuring us in various ways and compelling changes to long-standing habits. Stress on patriarchal values, or any system that has crystallized and has become unyielding, is challenged.
