Planet Weather for the Week of November 18, 2007

Planet Weather for the Weeks of June 1, 2008

SkyWatch Moon phase of the week: 6/5 -- The Moon enters Her New cycle at 13 Gemini, at 8:18 AM EDT . Look for Her slender crescent in the West a couple of days later, just after sunset. Skywatching events of the week: 6/5 The Eta Aquarid meteors peak about 2:00 PM. Because they aren't competing with the Moon, the best time view this meteor shower is a couple of hours before sunrise on this day and the day following. Look to the Southeast. 5/10 -- The Moon passes very  close to Mars; in fact, so close that this encounter is actually an occultation (eclipse of Mars by the Moon) as witnessed from parts of Europe, North Africa, and southern Asia. Their point of closest approach occurs in midmorning when neither body is visible. But look to the West in the evening and on the previous evening to see them close together. The Moon also passes very close to the Beehive star cluster at about 10 PM EDT. Look for this event high overhead at mid-evening. Unfortunately, the nearly First Quarter Moon will drown out most of the stars of M44, which belong to a kind of "mini-galaxy" that orbits our Milky Way galaxy. Space news of the week: Another Mars lander has landed! NASA's Phoenix spacecraft set down safely near the Marian North Pole last week after a successful soft landing. This lander does not have wheels and so is stuck in one spot but will perform experiments to search for (to quote NASA’s press release) "the building blocks of life." (But why doesn't NASA forget about "building blocks" and just search for Martian life itself? Who knows? Maybe they're afraid of finding some!) Go out! Look up!

Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!

The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting, or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be negative.

Week of 6/1/08 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially very productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement and/or producing results. On 6/2/08, the Moon is VOC/Taurus from 9:03AM to 6:06PM EDT – On 6/4/08, VOC/Gemini from 8:09AM to 5:16PM EDT – On 6/6/08, VOC/Cancer from 5:32AM  to 6PM EDT.

PlanetPatterns:

The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.

Sun in mutable, air, Gemini sextile (60deg.) Mars in fixed, fire Leo @ 14deg. on 6/4/08 @ 4:34AM EDT. Most planetary aspects this week are easier ones, including this one. Mars in the Sun’s sign of Leo, aspected by the Sun, provides plenty of energy all around, shine power, and the opportunity to put that energy to good use. Stimulating and warm, this combination wants to be noticed and encourages others towards reaching goals in a positive way. Still, this energy can be a bit over the top and overbearing, or even boastful, or pushy. Sun energy has lots of personality and sometimes too much ego-involvement. Just don’t step on someone else’s shine!

Venus/Gemini sextile Mars/Leo @ 15deg. on 6/6/08 @ 4:16AM EDT.  This harmonious contact between the planets of relationship and male/female icons makes for easy, stimulating, funny conversation and interaction. It’s the desire (and opportunity) to merge, mingle and exchange ideas and life stories – so get yourself around some fun people and have some laughs.

Sun/Gemini  conjunct (0deg.) Mercury/Gemini @ 17deg. on 6/7/08 @ 11:27AM EDT.  As if we don’t have enough to think about during Gemini time, which is often a highly curious and information excessive phase. Add to that, Mercury retrograde in Gemini joined with the Sun/Gemini. This may simply be too much information and sometimes not enough of the best kind. Watch out for excess verbiage, which is the Gemini way of releasing tension – to talk it all out and talk it all through. Now don’t complain, communication is important and there will surely be plenty of that happening. You could have a brainstorm and suddenly, intuitively untangle some of your ideas and concepts, especially if you discuss those ideas with other curious friends you trust and respect. There’ll be no lack of feedback!

Mercury/Gemini conjunct Venus/Gemini @ 17deg. on 6/7/08 @ 5:04PM EDT. Communication continues and so does sharing in relationships. This is the time to try new things, make new connections and, in general, feel the simple joys of realizing that we all want the same things – to feel part of life, to share ideas and experiences, and to be appreciated for what we have learned and are willing to share with others. This is an excellent party aspect because people will be willing to chat more than usual. This aspect takes place on Saturday with the Moon in Leo – make use of this combination and have a rockin’ good time, wherever you choose to be.

NewsBits: Correct Time of Birth found  for Obama! A birth time for Barak Obama has surfaced. It is still second-hand in that the birth-time was given to an astrologer by someone in Obama’s campaign, who supposedly saw the actual birth certificate. The full data we have now is: 8/4/61 7:11PM, Honolulu, HI. This gives Obama a 14deg. Aquarius rising and a 3deg. Gemini Moon. His long lean look fits these air signs better than the Scorpio rising on one of the potential previous charts for him. Obama loses the Grand Earth trine, when we thought his Moon was in Taurus – however, his IC (bottommost angle) is @ 25 Taurus making a trine to both Mars/Virgo and Saturn/Capricorn. His complex Saturn @ 25 Capricorn conjunct Jupiter @ 0 Aquarius is now positioned in his 12th house – a decidedly spiritual karma and nature. Saturn in House 12 demands attention to one’s spiritual self or suffer consequences, often illness. This is the inspirational part of Obama. His Ascendant in Aquarius clicks with the USA Moon in Aquarius – he reaches the people, although many are concerned about his youthfulness and lack of political experience. In looking at his progressed chart, we find that his Sun has moved to 27 deg. Virgo making an exact trine to the USA Pluto @ 27 Capricorn, meaning that he is hooked into the political drama of the US. Obama’s progressed Moon has been in Aquarius (the USA’s own Moon sign) for the last nearly 10 months and traces the time when he began his meteoric rise in the minds and hearts of the public. He has an exact Mercury conjunct Mars @ 22 Libra accentuating his natal strong Mercury energy – silver-tongued and something of a wordsmith. He has the eloquence that Americans love with the USA Mars in Gemini. Pluto retrograding back into Sagittarius makes a station @ 28deg. and trines Obama’s progressed Uranus @ 28 Leo exactly. He is the man of the moment. But wait…Sat 5/31 and Tues 6/3 are the last 3 primaries and Sat 5/31 the DNC made decisions about Michigan and Florida…to seat the delegates and give them each a ˝ vote. And wait, Mercury is retrograde in Gemini. I think we can expect some confusion and some questioning of process and procedure. We wonder whether the decisions are wise and equitable and whether they will be adjusted post Mercury retrograde.
