Planet Weather for the Week of April 27, 2008
SkyWatch – Moon phase of the
week: 4/28 -- The Moon enters Her Last (aka Third) Quarter phase at 10:12 AM
EDT at 8 degrees of Aquarius. Skywatching event of
the week: 4-27 -- The Moon makes a close pass just south of Jupiter during the
early hours of the morning when both are well placed high in the Southeast for
viewing from the continental U.S. Seeing the Moon and any planet or bright star
close to together in the night sky is always an enchanting sight. Space news of
the week: To celebrate the Hubble Space Telescope's 18th birthday, NASA
released a gallery of pictures of colliding galaxies shot by the Hubble. This
new Hubble exhibition dramatically shows how galaxy collisions produce a
remarkable variety of intricate structures. Of course, in the captions, NASA
refers to these galaxies as "interacting" not "colliding."
But the images in some cases are not unlike watching a battle of two buzz saws
in extreme slow motion. Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.

Week of 4/27/08 – Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday are all active energetically and potentially very
productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement and/or
producing results. On 4/27/08, the Moon is VOC/Capricorn from 10:18AM to 5:27PM
EDT – on 4/30/08, VOC/Aquarius from 1:25AM to 2:11AM EDT – On 5/2/08, the Moon
is VOC/Pisces from 5:34AM to 6:51AM EDT
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day
and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact
culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary
pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Mercury in
fixed, earth Taurus trine (120deg.) Jupiter in cardinal, earth Capricorn @
22deg. on 4/28/08 @ 9:41AM EDT. This aspect brings a pragmatic optimism and
opportunities based on well-defined objectives and grounded risks. Other than
that, there is a sense of getting things in order and feeling content with
one’s work well done. Leisure is desired and well-deserved. That’s the optimal
expression of this combination.
Mercury/Taurus
square (90deg.) Neptune in fixed, air Aquarius @ 24deg. on 4/29/08 @ 9:10AM
EDT. This aspect will send you into chaos, imagination,
rumination, artistic inspiration, spiritual questioning, or all of the above!
And you could misplace things, forget things – why? Because Neptune is the
great diffuser, you are wandering in the emotional mists and seas of
possibility but may not be fully grounded in your “normal” reality – which may
be a good thing. Take it in stride – if you resist, you will feel frustrated –
just enjoy the journey and be curious as to what else you might discover as you
are detoured from your typical routine. You may be privy to secrets or find out
something that was meant to stay hidden. Don’t agree to anything important
until you’ve had some time alone to ponder the situation.
Venus enters Taurus on 4/30/08 until
5/24/08. We are into earth time.
This is the third planet in Taurus and inevitably things slow down. It’s time
to smell the roses, slow your pace, and give in to some pleasure. You’ll feel
more generous during Venus in Taurus, and things you want may be more readily
available. Watch out for overspending because Taurus loves the finer things in
life and its strong desires don’t like being thwarted.
Venus/Taurus trine Pluto in cardinal,
earth Capricorn @ 0deg. on 5/1/08 @ 3:46AM EDT. This aspect is full of desire and pleasure. So…do
something sensual for yourself – a massage, a facial, some shopping, dinner
out. This is also a great money-making aspect. Go ahead and close a deal, or
two. Be sure to take stock of your worth and wear it proudly.
Venus/Taurus
trine Saturn in mutable, earth Virgo @ 1 deg. on 5/1/08 @ 6:20PM EDT. Now
it’s time, also to take stock of spending and create a plan or a budget. You
may be confronted with some basic and necessary spending to keep the foundation
strong. Longer-range planning for financial security works very well with this
aspect. You are reviewing all of your priorities and commitments with this
aspect.
Mercury enters mutable, air Gemini on
5/2/08 until 7/10/08. Mercury turns retrograde (Rx) in this sign on 5/26/08. Get ready for some wit and lots of word-play and
humor. Gemini likes to keep it light and make people laugh. Gather with your
friends and find the laughter in life and forget all the problems that are part
of daily life. The problems will be there and you’ll resolve them – trust that
– your laughter is good medicine and makes the inevitable need to address
issues much easier.
Saturn turns Stationary Direct @ 1deg.
on 5/2/08 0n 11:07PM EDT. By far,
this is the biggest planetary event of the week, Saturn making a Station Direct
@ the same degree as the 2/21/08 Total Eclipse of the Moon and reinforcing the
energies of light and dark and coming to terms with our shadows – in general –
about how our lives are functioning, or not. Saturn is at the same degree as it
was last September between 9/11- 9/19/08, when it first made entry into Virgo
and it will now retrace its steps until it reaches 8deg. again (the degree at
which it went retrograde on 12/19/07). This takes place between 8/2 – 8/12/08.
Saturn moving forward will make it easier to initiate some of the planning and
organization that you have earmarked as necessary to make your life run more
smoothly and efficiently.
Mercury/Gemini square Saturn/Virgo @ 1
deg. on 5/3/08 @ 3:50PM EDT. The week ends on that note of planning and organizing as
Mercury (the mind) meets with Saturn to sober up and make a real plan. You may
find yourself having some serious conversations or struggling with an obstacle
– something that may challenge your brain-power. This aspect is best handled by
taking things step by step in small increments – like a puzzle and methodically
piecing together a solution.
NewsBits: Hillary wins Pennsylvania! Planet
Weather did correctly predict that
Hillary would win PA. Thank you – the applause is appreciated. OK, now what?
The next primaries are May 6th in Indiana and North Carolina. Hillary Clinton called for another debate
with Barrack Obama, a Lincoln–Douglas style debate, in which the candidates
make the rules and there is no moderator and no press asking questions. Obama
has declined, even though his numbers are slipping nationally after the Rev.
Wright fiasco. On 5/6/08, the Moon enters Gemini @ 7:17AM EDT and immediately
opposes Hillary’s Jupiter @ 0deg. Sagittarius and makes a flowing trine to
Obama’s Jupiter @ 0deg. Aquarius. Planet
Weather predicts that Hillary will win one and Obama will win one State on
5/6/08. As we’ve said before, and as is obvious, the nation is split on who is
to be the Democratic candidate for President. With each candidate winning one
state in the next Primary contest, the accumulated delegate count won’t shift
significantly, which emphasizes again that the superdelegates
are likely to play the deciding role in this contest. The wooing of the superdelegates continues…[According
to the prevailing math, Obama only needs about 30% of the remaining superdelegates to win.]
Reno, Nevada Earthquake! On Friday, 4/25/08, Reno experienced a quake at 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale. Its last biggie was in 1953,
at 5.2. Last Friday was a tough day in many ways – the energy was rumbling,
intense and edgy. Each month, these days, when the Moon is in Capricorn, as it
was on 4/25/08, it meets Pluto, currently in Capricorn (since 1/25/08). In
fact, the Moon, whose travel takes it through all twelve signs in one month,
makes 3 other various hard angle aspects to Pluto/Capricorn. However, it’s
clear that the conjunction (when both the Moon and Pluto are in the same sign)
is the strongest. Planet Weather will
therefore begin to alert you to these potent Pluto days each month, since they
serve to express some of the energy that Pluto wants to release into the mass,
collective (un)consciousness. We want to remind
readers that Pluto in an Earth sign, such as cardinal (active) Capricorn, will
trigger more fundamental, basic and foundational changes in the Earth and on
the Earth in its corporations and well-established structures and constructs, personal habits
and stability or quality of our way of life, personal and political.
