Planet Weather for the Week of March 1,
2009
NewsBits: Outlook 2009 – Part 2 – The biggest patterns that affect us this year are: Pluto
in Capricorn – 2009 is the first full year of Pluto’s stay in
Capricorn. In 2008, we were introduced to the stark reality of Pluto in a consequence-based,
earth sign, Capricorn, but went back to bid adieu to Pluto in fiery, expansive
Sagittarius for about half the year. We’ve discussed Pluto’s entry into
Capricorn for the past 18 months and we’ll say a few more words now. This is a
major paradigm shift and lasts 16 years. It reminds you of the history you and
others have created and the consequences of actions taken over the course of
many years. It signifies compression, contraction, and pointed focus to help
you set worthy goals that you are willing to commit to. We may struggle more
with judgment and evaluate what is worth any effort we take (mental, emotional,
or physical) and always cautiously evaluate potential outcomes of any action.
Forethought, careful consideration, and methodical organization are
rewarded. Instability and destabilization
of weak systems in all ways can lead to fear, but don’t let that happen. Use
your skill and mastery to rebuild and strengthen your world.
The
Five-Phase Saturn opposition Uranus transit. Phase
two and three of these exact aspects take place in 2009 (the fist took place on
11/4/08!). The second was on 2/5/09, and the third is on 9/15/09. This series
of aspects indicates the general breakdown of systems and the need to update or
modernize for new realities and a technologically advanced world. This includes
new thinking and new methods to deal more effectively with old problems. Part
of this aspect is to discover the meaning of the work you do and the skills you
possess and how you apply them. In this process, we are seeing a reshuffling of
the workforce and many new projects that deal with pressing environmental
issues.
Venus in cardinal, fire Aries Retrograde
(Rx) begins 3/6/09. Venus turns
Direct on 4/17/09. Venus is impatient in Aries and struggles with instant
gratification issues. What was coming toward you may now be delayed and what
you pursue in haste may not be what you actually want when you get it. This
Venus Rx means to help you take the ego and selfishness out of your
interactions, and when you do, you may discover more meaningful relationships.
The idea of value is in high focus, including money and all that which you
attract and are attracted to. Venus is in its detriment in Aries. It is
opposite the sign it rules, Libra and behaves counter (more aggressively) to
the basic nature of Venus – the pursuit of harmony.
Saturn enters cardinal, air Libra 10/29/09. This is a new 2.5 year transition and modifies Pluto
in Capricorn because Capricorn’s natural ruler is Saturn. This means that what
has transpired so far with the breakdown of weak systems including banking,
auto and governmental structures will undergo another major shift. New
imbalances will appear and crises will have to be managed. This transit continues the work of assessing
our values, redirecting our intentions and rebuilding structures to reflect truer
values. The intrinsic intent is to achieve greater harmony by shifting our
relationship attitudes, habits, and alliances toward greater fairness and
equality. This will prove to be a challenging cycle as new issues arise, in
other sectors, that will require serious decisions.
Additionally, it will test the effectiveness of decisions made since the start
of the Pluto in Capricorn cycle 1/08 and 11/08). Rebalancing and weighing
options will require sensitivity and negotiation. More on this cycle in future
issues of Planet Weather.
Mars in fixed,
fiery Leo Retrogrades on 12/20/09. Mars turns Direct on 3/11/10. This biennial Mars
retrograde cycle slows things down and bring troubles for leaders and
leadership issues. Egos may run rampant and dignity be insulted. Mars Rx often
brings anger or aggression and frustration when inevitable delays in forward
momentum cause it to slacken. We enter 2010 with Mars Rx and mistakes in action
are often made due to bruised pride or overstepping one’s bounds. More on this transit as the year progresses.
SkyWatch: Moon phase of the week: 3/4 -- The Moon
enters Her First Quarter phase at 2:46 AM EST, at 13 degrees of Gemini. Skywatching events of the week: 3/1 -- Mercury will make a
close pass by Mars, with their point of closest approach coming in the evening
long before both planets rise. However, the two will still be very close
together the following morning when they rise together shortly before sunup.
The proximity to rust-colored Mars should make Mercury easier to spot, a rare
event indeed. All you need is a clear horizon and being a morning person! SkyNews of the week: The Kepler
Space Telescope that will search for Earth-like planets in our Milky Way galaxy
is being prepared for launch as early as sometime this week. This is the first
dedicated terrestrial planet-finder to be launched and can detect earthlike
planets out to distances of hundreds of light years. But what will we do when
(as seems likely) we find another Earth? Maybe it's just one of those
"nice to know" things…Go out! Look up!
Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!
The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is
a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major
aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less
outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting,
or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t
use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and
open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for
instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing
will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not
necessarily be negative.

Week of 3/1/09
– Sunday (after nightmare - languid), Monday (busy-productive), Tuesday
(communicative), Wednesday (demanding, hyper-energy), Thursday,
(sensitive-exhaustive), Friday (discombobulated) and Saturday (stable). Wednesady is the most active energetically and potentially very productive day
– more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement with others or projects, and/or
producing results. On 3/2/09, the Moon is VOC/Taurus from 5:43PM to 2:59AM
EST (next day)! – On 3/4/09, the Moon is VOC/Gemini from 9:11PM to 6:07AM EST
(next day)! – On 3/6/09, the Moon is VOC/Cancer from 7:29PM to 8:24AM EST(next day again)!
Planet Patterns & Cosmic Headlines:
Venus/Aries turns Rx on 3/6/09. Venus
entered cardinal, fire Aries on 2/2/09. Venus turns Direct @ 29 Pisces on
4/17/09. OK, here’s the deal.
This Venus is impatient and wants to move ahead, sometimes too fast and
impulsively. It loves to discover new and interesting (especially amusing
things). During this retrograde, Venus in Aries will experience what happens
when it leaps ahead without thinking things through to the consequences first.
Be aware that this is an issue with the retrograde and apply more caution in
your relationship dealings but certainly don’t stop meeting people. Know that
we’re all in this retrograde loop together and may act in ways that we don’t
normally do, because we are in a deeper evaluation process. Venus in Aries is
in its Detriment – that is, in the sign opposite which it rules, Libra and so
is not as accommodating or attracting as Libra Venus might be. Venus in Aries
is bold, assertive and used to getting what it goes after, with gusto.
Mercury in fixed,
air Aquarius conjunct Mars/Aquarius @ 19deg on 3/1/09. Ideas
are flying all over the place, and some of them are quite outlandish! That’s
just the way with Aquarius – anything goes, at least in the realm of thought!
We’re experiencing a very analytical combination – it could be cold and
logical, zany, hilarious, or truly have exceptional creative merit. It can also
make you feel quite revved up and anxious – for no apparent reason. So, it’s
best to figure out what’s going on. Enjoy the freedom to roam in alternate
realities and amaze yourself with a greater sense of freedom – in whatever way
that may apply to your life. Stretch out and connect with friends and
experience the energy of six degrees of separation in this small world we live
in.
Mercury in
fixed, air Aquarius conjunct Neptune/Aquarius @ 24degrees on 3/5/09. Mercury,
as its character requires, has brought messages to all the planets in Aquarius
one by one for a long time now and several times to some (remember it was
retrograde). It is now at the end and meeting with Neptune. All those wonderful
ideas will be blended and dissolved, re-imagined and reworked in terms of their
inspirational and altruistic value. This is a time to soar to new heights and
engage in believing that the best is yet to come and the best is intrinsic in
human nature. How’s that for faith and belief? My editor says: [Faith is really “belief in belief” – think about
that.]
*Currently Active Paradigm-Shift
Pattern: Part 2 of 5 – Saturn in mutable, earth Virgo
opposite (180 deg. angle) Uranus in mutable, water Pisces on 2/5/09 @ 20 deg. – Preview: Part 3 of 5 is exact on 9/15/09 @
24degrees. I’m keeping this aspect posted because it is active in our
lives in the background. It represents a general restructuring after breakdowns
in various systems. This is the time to carefully troubleshoot all those
patterns that you depend upon for sustenance and make repairs. Some may have
already revealed themselves to you as being weak. Find others that need shoring
up. The key here is also meaning. What is it that has meaning in your life? Is
your work meaningful? Do you feel that your contribution makes a difference to
the collective? Find some way to participate in the web of life with your
unique talent and skill.
