Planet Weather for the Week of November 18, 2007

Planet Weather for the Week of February 17, 2008

SkyWatch Moon phase of the week: 2/20 -- The Moon reaches perfect fullness at 10:33 PM EST, at one degree of Virgo. In Native American traditions, this Full Moon is the Snow Moon, sometimes a.k.a. the Hunger Moon. Skywatching event of the week -- This week's Full Moon will also give us the third lunar eclipse within a year (there are usually at most two sets of eclipses, solar and lunar, within this time span) and the first of 2008. Nearly everyone in North, Central, and South America, as well as Western Europe, will have a great view of this eclipse, weather permitting. The Moon will be riding high in the night as viewed from most of the United States and Canada. The eclipse will start around 8 PM EST and end shortly after midnight. And to make this spectacle even more spectacular, both Saturn and the bright blue astrological Royal Star Regulus will form a broad triangle with the Moon's ruddy disk. Space news of the week -- The Space Shuttle Atlantis successfully launched and docked with the International Space Station (ISS) this past week, and shuttle astronauts are currently busy prepping the European Space Agency's Columbus lab for attachment to the ISS as one of its permanent modules, bringing the station closer to completion by the end of this decade.  WOW!  Go out! Look up!

 Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!

The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting, or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be negative.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Week of 2/17/08 – Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the most active energetically and potentially most productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement and/or producing results. On 2/17/08, the Moon is VOC/Cancer from 4:13PM to 1:51PM EST (2/18/08) – on 2/20/08, VOC/Leo from 12:53PM to 7:06PM EST – on 2/22/08, VOC/Virgo from 9:15PM to 2:45AM EST (2/23/08).
PlanetPatterns:
The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.
Venus enters fixed, air Aquarius on 2/17/08 @ 11:22AM EST until 3/12/08. This Venus is logical, and although social, may at times be somewhat distant. Still, this position values loyalty in friendship and proves to be a true friend. There’s more tolerance for the unusual, unique, foreign and unconventional, both in negotiating relationships or seeking them out. As a trend, Venus/Aquarius wants something different and creative and will relish new spaces and places. The urge for independence and walking alone could have you partaking of separate activities more often. Or perhaps you’ll escape together and take a little trip, to breathe some fresh air into the same old, same old – routine. A quote from the mystic poet Kahil Gibran sums it up, “But let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of heaven dance between you.”
**Mercury in fixed, air Aquarius turns Stationary Direct @ 8deg. Aquarius on 2/18/08 @ 9:57PM. The first Mercury Retrograde of 2008 is ending. The cycle, however, won’t be complete in revealing its gifts of mental processing until Mercury passes the degree at which it went retrograde (24 Aquarius), called the “shadow point,” and that will be on 3/9/08. Mercury retrograde is exactly for processing and ferreting out the kinks in our thinking, which may initially create more confusion. Once past the shadow point, we emerge from the maze and the haze and are apt to more clear cognition. Because of Mercury’s Rx cycle, it conjoins with elusive, inspirational, and sometimes illusion-prone Neptune three times – 1/21/08, 2/2/08, and lastly on 3/6/08. The task for this Mercury Rx was/is to ferret out some elusive truth or a hidden yearning and acknowledge a desire for an ideal and whether we ought to pursue a dream that seems to persist in our consciousness – and the possible consequences of doing so.
The Sun enters mutable, water Pisces on 2/19/08 @ 1:50AM EST until 3/20/08. We are now entering the transitional time of the (Winter) season. This is a dream-time and a synthesis as we prepare for a taking greater direct action when we reach Aries time, a month from now. Pisces is the sea of possibilities from which our greatest yearnings emerge. Be sure to inspire yourself as much as possible to maximize the creative flow of this time. Give yourself more time to daydream and reflect, so that you are in tune with your soul-being and ready to spring into Spring soon!
Lunar Eclipse Full Moon @ 1deg. Virgo on 2/20/08 @ 10:30PM EST. Eclipses have been enigmatic since time began, as they signify a departure from the natural order of light – shadows are created and hidden things must come into the light of consciousness. Our ancestors took them very seriously and with a certain fated foreboding – usually of changes in fortune for kings and leaders. Eclipses come in pairs, typically two weeks apart – one Solar and one Lunar. The current one, two weeks after the last Solar Eclipse, belongs to the same eclipse family which began at the North Pole in the year 944 C.E. A full eclipse cycle goes from one pole to the other and takes thousands of years to complete. Again, this eclipse accentuates communication and the struggle between conflicting views and beliefs. We deliberate among divisions and choices in various ways, and certainly this is visible in the politics of today! If you have planets within a few degrees on either side of this eclipse, you will feel it most directly. Note that this eclipse degree makes a trine (120deg. angle) to Pluto @ 0 Capricorn and in fact, trines Pluto’s very first Station Retrograde degree of 1 Capricorn on 4/2/08. It also foreshadows Saturn’s Retrograde Direct station @ 1 Virgo on 5/2/08. To sum up – critical choices, look at the details to reach your wisest and most practical decisions. We have demanding times approaching.
NewsBits: Hillary or Obama?  It sure looks as though it’s Obama as the Democratic Presidential candidate, right now -- but wait, there are significant planetary shifts coming and the tide may yet change. For instance, Mercury turning direct (2/18/08) will bring greater clarity to evaluating the candidates (we’ve been in the spin cycle and our thinking may have been a bit fuzzy). The Lunar eclipse, which makes a trine to Pluto/Capricorn on 2/20/08, the day before the next Democratic debate (2/21/08), stimulates both Hillary and Obama’s charts strongly – so watch that debate!
There’s some volatility in the air this year with powerful Pluto sitting on the degree of the Winter Solstice, 0deg. Capricorn. As we taste the beginnings of the seismic shift that will last approximately 16 years, we may feel unsteady and uncertain of the principles that are nearest and dearest to us. We have several strong choices, but what measures will we use to choose? Pluto in Capricorn demands accountability, reliability, and masterful performance of duties and responsibilities. The pressures on the next President will be powerful, whoever it is.
Hillary Clinton is a strong woman, a lifelong devoted public servant, and certainly heroic in what she has survived and endured. She’s still standing and will take it to the limit of possibility – so let’s not rule her out just yet. [She just said, she’s going to fight all the way to the convention.] You can be sure she’s analyzed what’s recently transpired and is mobilizing to meet the Obama challenge. You will hear some strong messages from her in the next several weeks leading up to the Texas and Ohio primaries. We need her accurate time of birth to fully determine the influences acting upon her at this time. If anyone has information regarding her time of birth (that can be verified), please let us know!
