Planet Weather for the Week of November 18, 2007

Planet Weather for the Week of February 10, 2008

SkyWatch Moon phase of the week: 2/13 -- The Moon enters Her First Quarter phase at 10:33 PM ET, at 24 degrees of Taurus, the sign of Her astrological exaltation. 2/15-16 -- The Moon passes Mars, although not particularly closely, with their point of nearest approach (about 6 Moon-diameters) coming a couple of hours after midnight, after moonset in most U.S. locations. Earlier in the evening, however, you can see the Moon just to the West of Mars. Space news of the week: NASA successfully launched the Space Shuttle Atlantis this past week, which is due to rendezvous with the International Space Station (ISS) shortly. The launch was pronounced amazingly "clean" with few or no hits from flying foam debris from the external tank to cause dings in the Shuttle's reentry heat-resistant skin of delicate tiles. The Shuttle’s cargo is the European Space Agency's Columbus research lab to be attached to the ISS during a spacewalk this week. Go out! Look up!

Knowing when VOC Moons occur is key to planning your successful week!

The Void-of-course (VOC) Moon is a kind of limbo. As it reaches the end of a sign, the Moon makes no major aspect to another planet before it enters the next sign. VOC is best for less outcome-oriented activity, since VOC often means detours, distractions, drifting, or delays. If you want specific outcomes, or if timeliness is critical, don’t use a VOC Moon time. VOC is best for processing, imagining, creating, and open-ended activities, like parties, research, or cleaning your desk/closet for instance! It is said that when a new action is initiated during VOC, “nothing will come of it,” or energies go in unplanned directions, which may not necessarily be negative.

Week of 2/10/08 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the most active energetically and potentially most productive days – more Moon or planetary aspects for engagement and/or producing results. On 2/11/08, the Moon is VOC/Aries from 8PM to 4:34AM EST (2/12/08) – on 2/14/08, VOC/Taurus from 12:05AM to 7:19AM EST – on 2/16/08, VOC/Gemini from 5:17AM to 10:12AM EST.

PlanetPatterns:

The following planetary energy patterns flavor the day and are felt or experienced often hours before and after their exact culmination. They remain effective, certainly until the next major planetary pattern comes along to shift the energy gears.

Sun in fixed, air Aquarius conjunct (0 deg.) Neptune/Aquarius @ 21deg. 0n 2/10/08 @ 9:04PM EST.

This annual event brings our consciousness into contact with dreams and yearnings that we may have forgotten. At this time, they arise profoundly from the ethers, and we want to feel the magic, the inspiration of reaching for something transcendent, ideal, and beautiful. While this can be a highly creative time for artists in any media, it can also indicate moments where we are disappointed or disillusioned if we feel we are not living our dreams or worse still, if someone is not living up to our dreams! Use this time to find ways to re-inspire yourself by taking a little escape to soothe, recharge, and regain your positive outlook. We are asked to look beyond all that seems so ideally perfect, to a reality that we can truly participate in – one that will actually work.

Sun in fixed, air Aquarius trine (120 deg.) Mars in mutable, air Gemini @ 25deg. 0n 2/14/08 @ 11:39AM EST.  Fueled with Neptunian gloss and gossamer trailing, the Sun (prevailing consciousness) wants to take strides and make progress. There may be a spurt of energy as you launch yourself into a project, initiate, or make a decisive move to reach a desired goal. Since we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day today in the US, this aspect gives men added fuel to actively pursue and express their valor or ardor for their significant or desired other. This aspect lends more energy and effort applied than usual.

NewsBits: Romney Drops Out and Candidates Left Standing! On 2/7/08, Mitt Romney announced his withdrawal from the race for the Presidency of the United States. That leaves John McCain, the clear front-runner, with Mike Huckabee dogging him, as the Republican candidates for their party. Romney retreated from the race with transiting Uranus/Pisces squaring his birth Uranus @ 17 Gemini. Romney was forced to see the big picture and face reality. One can suppose that he finally listened to the criticism leveled against him that said if he’s so good at economics, then why is he waging a losing financial battle? Huckabee is benefiting from the juice Pluto/Capricorn @ 0deg. Capricorn is supplying his Sun/Virgo and Uranus/Leo both also at 0deg. He’s definitely the spoiler for McCain’s full-blown victory. In June, when Pluto retrogrades back to the last two degrees of Sagittarius, it still fuels Huckabee’s 2 planets @ 29deg. – Venus and Mars/Leo! So, he’s not going anywhere and there’s a good chance he will be VP on the Republican ticket.

On the other side of the aisle (or the divide) we have Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama both vying for the necessary delegates needed for their party’s nomination. The race remains very close with Obama winning four primaries this past Saturday. There is strong talk that the choice of a nominee may be brokered by the so-called “super delegates” at the Democratic convention, August 25-28 in Denver, Colorado. We sorely wish we had accurate birthtimes for both Hillary and Obama. My take is that Hillary will gain more strength as time goes on, which has been her history, while we do not have much history for Obama; he is untested by time and political accomplishments. Hillary is plagued by notoriety and her husband’s peccadilloes and Obama is plagued by having little to show (as yet) for his years of public service. Hillary is definitely a survivor, and Obama is inspiring a new generation of voters. Using one of the proposed birthtimes for Hillary (making sense to me), shows her Moon is strongly in the mix with Pluto. When Pluto returns to Sagittarius, in June 2008, Hillary’s Moon will be in high focus and all the projections people have about her will be roiling about, larger than ever and yet, this will also give her juice to respond and fight. We are living in an amazing political time. We are on the edge of a new paradigm and in a similar situation as 248 years ago, the last time Pluto was in Capricorn – tearing down and rebuilding new systems, and the seeds of the birth of the United States. We are headed for a rebirth with all the attendant labor pains.
